Five Things – 4/12/24

Hi everyone! I hope you are having a fantastic week. I spent the beginning of this week on PTO in Florida, lounging beachside. Patrick was there for a work conference so I tagged along for vacation. The weather was not the best, but I still managed to read an entire book while I was there and got a minor sunburn. In less pleasant news, I am currently dealing with what feels like an injury in my right shin/calf region and it has been painful on nearly every run – and now even when walking around. I have an X-ray and a doctor’s appointment early next week, but it sucks. Especially because MMT is now 5 weeks away! We’ll see what the doctor says.

I am trying to stay positive, so today I bring you another list of five things that I am finding joyful lately!

  • Powerless by Lauren Roberts. This is the book I read on the beach and I LOVED it. It’s sort of fantasy/sci-fi (my fav) and is maybe the best in this genre I’ve read since the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas. The second book in the trilogy comes out in July and I am so excited! I devoured this book in less than 48 hours and it is 400+ pages…
  • Flowers! Everywhere! Spring is definitely here in Virginia. The weather is warming up, our car had a layer of yellow pollen all over it yesterday, and there are flowers everywhere. I don’t know what all of them are and I’m sure they’ll make me sneeze, but they sure are wonderful to look at.
  • Clean laundry. I love doing laundry (lol). Having my regular clothes or all of my workout clothes freshly clean for the week ahead feels inspiring and motivating!
  • Grocery shopping at Wegmans. If you’ve been around long enough, you know I love to grocery shop. I love the experience and, similar to the laundry, I love feeling like I am prepared to nourish myself and take on the week ahead! And I really love Wegmans. Now that we’re in the new house, we are way closer to Wegmans and have started shopping there again – much to my delight!
  • Mary Oliver’s poetry. I read Felicity and Why I Wake Early and absolutely loved them. I am reading Dog Songs now and it’s tugging at all my heartstrings. Highly recommend!

Keep your fingers crossed that my shin heals up quickly and I can plan to race MMT in a few weeks. Until I know more, I’ll just keep on keeping on!
