This Week: Not Enough Sleep

Y’all I am sleepy. After a lot of fun and travel over the last few weeks, I want to stay in bed for 12 hours straight. I keep telling myself I am going to get up early and go to the gym before work, but that has simply not been the case. Nonetheless, life is good and Virginia is humid.

File under: Reasons I’m Sleepy – a trail run in Durango, CO last weekend!

What I’m…

…Reading: The Traitor Queen by Danielle Jensen. This is the second book in a series that I started a few months ago. It is heavy on the political intrigue, which I am enjoying! This weekend I read Reckless by Lauren Roberts (second in a trilogy) in less than 48 hours. It came out in early July and was a pretty easy, entertaining read.

…Eating: Fried tofu bowls. In West Virginia a few backs ago I ordered a tofu “poke” bowl from a restaurant and it was just crispy tofu on rice with a whole slew of vegetables. It was so good. Patrick and I already made tofu stir fry pretty regularly, but it was normally just tofu, rice, frozen asian vegetables, and whatever sauce we were into that week. Adding a bunch of fresh vegetables and omitting the frozen stuff seems like a simple thing to do, but it is a game changer!

…Wearing: How about what I’m not wearing? Makeup. I started wearing very basic makeup to work as a way to feel more put together and as a way to establish boundaries between work and life. It seems kind of silly but putting on makeup and taking it off at the end of the day is akin to a costume for me. It marks when my thoughts about work begin and end! This summer, though? I can’t stand the thought of putting on even a tinted moisturizer only to step outside and sweat it right off. NO THANKS!

…Listening to: Free by Florence and the Machine. This is all around a very wonderful song. It makes me want to jump and dance and run around with my arms out. Highly recommend.

…Drinking: So. Much. Water. I spent all weekend dehydrated, I think, so now I am playing catch up. Plus, with the humidity and temperatures we’re having, I am not interested in feeling more sluggish and exhausted than I already do!

…Thinking About: All the random little chores I desperately need to do.

…Excited For: Incoming rain! Everything is so dry here right now – we’re in desperate need of rain. It looks like the next few days have thunderstorms in the forecast and I can’t wait. Normally it’s frustrating to have rain on weekends (because there’s adventure to be had, of course!) but I am ready to welcome it this time around.

What about you?!
