A Few Words

Y’all. In the recent months I’ve noticed that my vocabulary has improved. I credit it to reading, listening to more podcasts, and generally paying more attention to the words I hear throughout daily life. Sometimes I’ll be speaking and will stun myself with a word choice! I had no clue I could even use that word in a sentence! 😉

I figured I’d share some of my favorite words I’ve heard or learned recently and where I picked them up.

*Definitions are all Merriam Webster!

  • Reticent
    • Where I Heard It: In a meeting with a bunch of PAC managers
    • Definition: inclined to be silent or uncommunicative in speech : reserved.
  • Precocial
    • Where I Read It: In Egg by Lizzie Stern (you may also hear it in Taylor Swift’s I Hate It Here!)
    • Definition: capable of a high degree of independent activity from birth.
  • Indelible
    • Where I Heard It: In another Taylor Swift song (Carolina) – no shame.
    • Definition: that cannot be removed, washed away, or erased.
  • Intimate (as a verb; pronounced like in-tim-mate!)
    • Where I Heard It: My fabulous friend Vanessa who has the best vocabulary of anyone I’ve ever met
    • Definition: to communicate delicately and indirectly : hint.

What about you? Have you learned any fun new words recently? Please share them so I can continue expanding my own knowledge!

P.S. Happy (almost) August ❤
