We have a lot of sunscreen in our house. And in our car. And in various running/cycling gear bags. I wear face sunscreen every single day and absolutely do not get my day started without ensuring I have some sort of SPF on! The older I get the more I’ve realized that protecting your skin is actually quite cool and I make an effort to prevent burns whenever possible.
In addition to sunscreen, I also always have sunglasses and have started to wear hats far more often. I wish I could bring myself to wear a sun shirt more often but the humidity in Virginia makes that a truly heinous experience. Long sleeves sticking to my hot, sweaty skin? No thanks. Nonetheless, we’ve already gone through many bottles of sunscreen this summer! I know that spray sunscreen is not quite as good as the lotion, but I am far more likely to spray it on and then slather it than I am to squeeze it straight out of the bottle. And I feel like spray sunscreen is probably better than no sunscreen at all!
This is sort of gross but I’ve gotten so good about wearing sunscreen that I swear I can never get it fully off my skin. I scrub in the shower and yet, when I lay down to sleep, I swear I can still smell it on my arms.
I’ve been whining about the heat and humidity here in NoVA for a bit, but now the weather has taken a turn! Highs in the upper 80s with significantly less humidity and it feels wonderful. In honor of summer potentially coming to a quiet end over the next few weeks, I thought it might be fun to look at all the different sunscreens we have around the house (and more) and share the context in which it might get used! Enjoy!
(Also I swear I’m not being paid by Supergoop! I discovered them many many years ago and have slowly tried almost all of their products LOL.)

Supergoop PLAY Sunscreen: For when you’re about to jet out of the house for a run or bike ride and realize you need to throw some sunscreen on your face! Lives on the cabinet with most of our cycling gear and sports electronics (headphones, watch charger, etc). Close to the front door for ease of access!

Supergoop Glow Stick: Sits on the mirror by the front door with the keys and sunglasses. Great for slathering on before running errands or going on a walk and you realize it’s been a while since you’ve applied any SPF. Truthfully, I only put this on my nose and cheeks because it does add a shine, but it’s better than nothing!

Banana Boat Sport: The go to sunscreen in this household! Spray this bish on before runs, bike rides, going to the pool, going on a hike, generally doing anything outside for a long period of time – you name it! We buy a pack of these cans from CostCo and so they’re scattered around the house and in the car (or the lotion variety is, at least). This shoe hanger in the background holds a ton of our outdoor accessories and is in the front hall closet.

More Banana Boat! Perpetually kept in the pool/beach bag. This hangs on our staircase so that we can run to the pool in a moment’s notice. We try to wait 15 minutes after application before getting in the pool, but we’re not always successful.

The best for last!
Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen: The holy grail of daily sunscreen. I put this as the last step of my skincare routine. So velvety and smooth. The TJ’s dupe is okay but is noticeably grittier.
Supergoop Bright Eyed Sunscreen: This is a tinted under eye sunscreen. Maybe excessive but I like using it in lieu of concealer sometimes!
Supergoop Glow Screen: Basically a tinted, shinier sunscreen. I also used this in place of foundation if I’m feeling lazy or just want a little extra something!
Brush on Block: I don’t use this too often but it’s a powder, mineral sunscreen! Nice to use when I want something a little extra or just feel the need to apply more SPF.
Bonus shout out to bug spray! Virginia has got mosquitoes and ticks and I’m not interested in any of that. We keep many cans of Off in the front hallway closet too.
As summer winds down, I hope you remember to keep wearing your sunscreen! In fact, wear it every day of the year. Your skin (and DNA) will thank you.
