This Week: Fall?!

I cannot even believe I am writing this but WOW the weather has been beautiful in Arlington this week. I know that it’s False Fall and warmer temps will be back next week, but for now I am enjoying evenings on the front porch in a sweatshirt. Yeah, it has been that good. I know summer isn’t actually over yet – I feel like I need one more beach day! – but I am also very ready to welcome fall with open arms.

I’m running my summer goal race on Saturday and it really feels like that will mark the end of summer for me. I’m not sure why as I know that September is also still summer and it’s not even Labor Day yet! Maybe I’m just relieved to have a break for workouts in the summer weather. Anyway, hope you’re having a great week! Here’s what I’ve been up to:

What I’m…

…Reading: I just finished Brave New World and wow, it continued to be odd. I’m still working on Opinions, but I got a few fun books from the library to read next!

…Eating: Red meat. Sooo, I cut out red meat for animal ethics reasons and was going pretty strong for many months. I’ve just eaten a lot of chicken and turkey (sorry birds)! This past weekend I was served a delicious, home cooked burger and the next day I felt like a million bucks. All that exhaustion and fatigue I’d been writing about here? Gone. I have an annual check up next week with blood work so I’ll be curious to see what my iron levels look like.

…Wearing: A braided ponytail on my runs! My hair has gotten long enough that I can no longer stand it touching my neck (and getting dry and gross) during my runs, so I am back to braiding it. I haven’t had to do that in 10 months!

…Listening to: Adele. I’ve really been wanting to change up what I listen to everyday and have been slowly trying out new-to-me music and artists. That being said, I came across a video of Adele singing “Love in the Dark” and realized I hadn’t listened to her music in a while!

…Drinking: PUMPKIN COLD FOAM. The fall flavors were released at Starbucks today and you better believe I treated myself after going to the post office. Walking home, with a pumpkin cold foam in hand, without it being one millions degrees was an absolute treat.

BONUS: Gatorwine – LOLOL. Equal parts blue Gatorade and cheap red wine. Patrick and I saw this in a YouTube video and brought it to Adina and Evan’s house for dinner last night. It is as odd as it sounds. Almost sangria-like? But not quite. I said that if you handed it to me and didn’t tell me what it was then I’d just say it was strange (but not terrible).

…Thinking About: Making a cleaning and organizing schedule for myself. I am trying to spend less time sitting on the couch in the morning and I’d love to organize our space and make it feel more like us. But without a plan I’ll just keep thinking about it rather than actually taking care of it! I’ll report back.

…Excited For: Some really fun plans in September! It should be a really exciting month full of shenanigans and adventure.

Have a wonderful weekend and wish me luck at my half marathon on Saturday!

Love,

JN
