this week #53

Happy Thanksgiving! We turkey trotted this morning, and it was madness. Fun! Make no mistake. But it was a much bigger crowd than last year on Alexandria’s pretty small streets. A cold front blew in overnight, too. We’re prepping our contributions for Thanksgiving dinner, and I’m resisting the urge to drink a lot of coffee.

The last week has been weirdly busy, but here’s what I’ve been…

…Reading: I just started The Great Gatsby! I’m pretty certain I “read” this in high school, but it was likely just skimming and SparkNotes. Having reread some of the classic required reading books over the last year or so, I’ve come to the realization that these books aren’t actually that hard to read. They just require a bit more attention than I was willing to give as a 16 year old. THAT SAID, Nick Carraway’s voice is sort of brain-spinning to read. I’m sure there is a good reason for this, but I have to reread a few of his sentences to understand what he’s saying. LOL.

…Eating: Cinnamon applesauce. My current fixation. I made muffins the other week that called for sweetened applesauce. Apparently no one wants to add sweeteners to applesauce anymore, so the only type I could find were individual cups of cinnamon applesauce. I only needed one little cup, but didn’t want to waste the rest of them, so I started eating them. They were way more delicious than I expected, so I bought more.

…Listening to: Demi Lovato’s new album. I was a hater about this album at first because I thought the lyrics were lame, but Patrick pointed out that it’s generally a fun dancey type of songlist so it has grown on me!

…Enjoying: A fun date night! Last night we went to Alta Strada in the Mosaic for dinner (it gets high ratings from me) and then over to the Angelika to see Wake Up Dead Man. If you’ve been reading my blog enough this year, you know I LOVE an Agatha Christie novel, and I really enjoy all the Knives Out movies, so it was a great time.

…Starting: To do more actual Peloton cycling workouts. I’ve been mostly doing low-impact/recovery rides on the spin bike, but now I am starting to introduce actual workouts into the mix! I may need to upgrade my subscription because I only get three cardio classes a month.

…Buying: Lots of Christmas gifts. I’m a little out of control but ‘tis the season! I’m having so much fun. Plus, we’re getting our Christmas tree this weekend so I need to put stuff under it!

Have a great week!

Love,

JN
