Hello and happy Wednesday! I missed doing this last week, but can you blame me? It’s been busy! I ran the Richmond Marathon this weekend with Erica and it was a blast. The weather was truly 10/10. Patrick ran the half marathon in a blazing time of 1:33. I can’t even fathom it! All in all, that race never disappoints and it always feels good to be reminded of your strength.

I want to write about the race in more detail, but I’ll save that for a future post. For now, here’s what I’ve been…
...Reading: I finally finished Boom Town yesterday! Boom Town is a surprisingly long book but is extremely interesting. I’m going to OKC to visit Sabrina & family in December and I sort of want to see some of these historical landmarks. I’m not sure what books I’ll start next, but I think I may finally dive into Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller.
…Eating: Patrick and I made stuffed pepper soup this week and it is delicious. I’m not a huge soup person but this one is hearty and thick, so I can get into it. It’s also decently chilly here and thus soup finally feels appropriate!
…Procrastinating: Doing a financial deep dive. I have been meaning to get back on the horse of spending tracking and monitoring my finances for MONTHS. I can’t bring myself to sit down and dive in! I always feel better when I’m paying attention to those things and it’s actually pretty satisfying to do. I want to do it at a coffee shop or something but logging into my financial accounts in a public place is not smart.
…Listening to: Christmas Jazz music. I really wanted to wait until after Thanksgiving but I also don’t care! I feel like I’m compromising because I’m only listening to jazz versions of the music. I am going to try to wait until Thanksgiving to switch over to music with lyrics.
…Trying: To do more prehab. I’ve been fortunate to not deal with any serious injury and yet I feel like I could still be better about doing specific, preventative strength work for areas that have given me minor grief in the past. I added it to my habit app! I’m aiming to do four prehab sessions a week and will just cycle through a bunch of the offerings in the Recover app.
…Thinking About: The massage I got yesterday. I don’t feel too sore post-marathon, but I do feel like my muscles are generally tense after the training block. After nearly making an appointment five times in one hour on Monday, I decided to book a couple’s massage for Patrick and I.
…Excited For: Running a turkey trot with Patrick! I haven’t done a turkey trot in a hot minute and I am pumped. Back in Texas, Erica and I would run the trot in The Woodlands and then go to Starbucks and get a caramel brulee latte after. I can’t wait to bring Patrick into the fun.
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week and are getting excited for Thanksgiving. I hope that the early sunsets aren’t getting you too down in the dumps, either.
Love,
JN
