this week #32

ALLERGIES. That is my word of the week! The pollen count has been slowly growing, and this week it is really real. I thought I had escaped the worst of it, but now I have stuffy ears and a sore throat and generally feel tired in my face – you know what I mean?!

Aside from that, life is good. Patrick is home, the weather has been beautiful, and my running feels good again this week! I can’t complain. The weekend ahead should be pretty nice too.

Here’s what I’ve been up to this week! I’ve been…

…Reading: Remember when I was in a reading slump? Not anymore! I spent so much time this past weekend/week reading outside or on the couch and got through so many books. I finished Demon Copperhead, fully read Fearless by Lauren Roberts in ~3 days, and devoured Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green. Now I am reading The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley and thoroughly enjoying it! Patrick picked a copy up from the library, so now we’re both reading it at the same time and it’s like a little book club! I just started The Day the World Stops Shopping by J.B. Mackinnon, so I’ll report back on that next week. I have a big stack of library books to get through before they’re all due.

But also, this?!

…Eating: Homemade pizza. Patrick made outrageously good pizzas on the grill this week! The dough was store bought, but he did the rising/shaping very well. Putting the pizza stone on the grill just adds to the whole experience!

Patrick also made banana nut muffins recently and I am loving them.

…Wearing: Dresses because it’s spring! It’s still a little bit chilly in the mornings, but by the afternoon it’s quite nice. I love exposing my shoulders – LOL.

…Listening to: Keep It Up by Good Neighbours. Sort of in line from my song of choice from last week, this is a great song to dance around to in your kitchen! I’d have to recommend bopping around to it while drinking coffee and waiting for your bagel to finish toasting.

…Trying: To renew my Italian passport. Wow, what a convoluted process! I think I am figuring it all out though. For Patrick to one day apply for citizenship, he has to have a basic knowledge of the Italian language, and I think that’s a fun reason to talk Italian lessons together! I tried to learn some on Duolingo before going to Europe in 2023, and it did help a bit, but I kept mixing up Spanish and Italian. A fun problem to have!

…Thinking About: Getting a massage. I really ought to wait until it’s closer to MMT, but it sounds soooo nice right now. I just feel like I have some odd spots in my body that would benefit from being worked out. We’ll see!

…Excited For: Lots of fun weekends ahead! Our spring always gets really busy, but in a good way. We have fun visitors coming over the next few weeks, Patrick’s birthday is coming up, and the weather tends to be divine. What’s not to love?! I’ve got to focus in on some MMT prep so that I’m not rushing in the last two weeks leading up, but it’s such a joy to fit that in amongst all the fun.

I hope you are having a fantastic week and have an even better weekend ahead!

Love,

JN
