MOVE·MENT: the progressive development of a poem or story.

this week #37

Oops, I missed a week! I would apologize but I was busy celebrating my 30th and then flying down to the Cayman Islands for a long weekend with Patrick. Rough life, right?!

The water on our way to Stingray City. Unreal.

I’m honestly in disbelief that it’s June already. Not in a “where has the time gone?!” kind of way, but in a “I really need to get ready to party all summer!” kind of way. Summer is serious business.

Anyway, here’s what I’ve been…

…Reading: I thought I was going to read a ton on vacation, but I spent more time in the water than I did lounging! I did manage to finish A Reign of Rose; a third book in a trilogy that only ended up being okay. I also started another Agatha Christie book (sue me) called The Pale Horse!

Don’t worry, I spent most of my time in that water, not on the pool deck.

…Eating: After eating out for days, I was ready to do some meal prep when we got back! I went grocery shopping early this morning and have already prepped some high protein breakfast biscuits. Calling them biscuits is a bit of a stretch, but they are delicious! I’m actually pretty pumped about every meal we have planned this week. Summer dining is my absolute fave.

…Wearing: An old dress that I got at Target one million years ago. I love this dress! It makes me feel like a Greek goddess.

Me wearing said dress NINE YEARS AGO on my 21st birthday. Insane!

…Listening to: There Will Be Time by Baaba Maal and Mumford & Sons. This song is so gorgeous and wonderful. Please listen!

…Trying: To start running again this week! I went back to the gym last week and lifted very gently to get my body used to that type of load again. I can’t wait to really hit the roads and trails again though. I honestly can’t remember the last time I took two weeks off of running. Maybe 2016?

…Generally Enjoying: Grandpa Mornings. I’m not perfect at doing this, but it always feels really good when I do! Today I had a grandpa morning before heading to work and it was relaxing, yet productive all at once. I felt like I could actually enjoy the morning more! Plus, we managed to accomplish some chores that I won’t have to worry about later today. Pretty great, if you ask me. (Patrick also turned on a summer jazz playlist as we were meandering about the house and the vibes were immaculate.)

…Excited For: Summer adventures! Pool, SUP-ing, trail running, bike riding, baseball games – all of it!

I hope you’re having a nice start to June! And, if not, I hope you find a microadventure to get your spirits up.

Love,

JN
