I know, I know, we still have Thanksgiving to celebrate. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited! But I had this idea on my mind and it required some advance planning…
Christmas is around the corner! Years ago, I bought reusable, build-your-own advent calendars from Target that we’ve filled with fun chocolates ourselves every year. It’s super fun, though December tends to be a pretty treat-filled time, so halfway through the month we get sick of having an additional daily chocolate and abandon the calendar.
This year, I was targeted for a coffee advent calendar (where you get a single serving of fancy beans/grounds every day) MONTHS ago, and I almost spent the $100+ to buy it! Except, I had gotten one of those for Patrick’s ages ago, and we didn’t even really love the coffee. Plus, I didn’t love the idea of spending so much money on something so unfulfilling. It got me thinking: can we make our own advent calendar that is not chocolate, is more experience based, and is practically free (always trying to reduce my consumption over here)? I liked the idea of focusing on coffee, and we have 1,394 ways to brew coffee, so my homemade coffee advent calendar was born!

I made a list of activity ideas, used a cute Canva template, and then randomly added the activities to the calendar! Patrick and I rearranged some stuff to ensure we were set up for success. You’ll notice that we have a bonus even on the 26th because that was the only day a tasting was available, but it works! And I am excited!
The idea is to be intentional throughout the month so that time doesn’t fly by and to hopefully find a little more joy in our daily coffees. I definitely speak for both of us when I say it’s our favorite way to start the day.
Some are sillier than others. For example, I will probably listen to Christmas music every day, not just on the 13th. But that’s okay! It’s about the vibes. 🙂 Not trying to rush past Thanksgiving, but I am freaking psyched.
Love,
JN
