Whew, life has been busy lately! I’ve been meaning to sit down and write for a while, but haven’t had the time or energy with so much else going on. Have you heard that we might get a proper winter storm this weekend? I’m hoping so! I wouldn’t mind skipping a long run and sitting on the couch watching a movie or reading my book. I really want to make cinnamon rolls too…
Anyway, work and training have been keeping me busy. I’m not complaining though! Here’s what I’ve been…
…Reading: The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig (and still working on The Art of Frugal Hedonism). Rachel Gilling wrote a duology that I really enjoyed and this one is proving to be entertaining too. I appreciate that her stories are really interesting and unique. I’ve got a big stack of books on my nightstand that I need to work through ASAP so that they’re not super late back to the library!

…Eating: Blood oranges. Yum! We normally buy cuties this time of year, but I decided to try these on a whim. They’re delicious and smell divine! I enjoy the grapefruit-esque quality they have without being too bitter.
…Wearing: Shorts at all the wrong times. This weekend I waited until the afternoon to try running at the “warmest” part of the day. When I stepped outside to get a feel for what I should wear, I really felt like it wasn’t that cold! I ended up wearing shorts. Fast forward to 2 miles into my run, it starts to snow. And continues to snow for 2 hours. It wouldn’t have been that bad except I had layered poorly up top and had gotten a little sweaty, which was starting to make me feel chilled. And I kept wiping the snow and snot off my face with my gloves, so then those were wet… Honestly, my legs felt okay though!

…Listening to: My Body’s My Buddy by Tessa Violet and Brye. This is just such a lovely song 🙂
…Trying: To cook more! I don’t know what it is, but I have not been in the mood to cook lately. Maybe because I don’t want to have to do one more thing after a busy day, but it’s still odd because I normally really enjoy it. I think I am more of a summer grilling gal!
…Thinking About: Swimming! I got a new swimsuit to start incorporating lap swimming into my training regimen. I don’t think I’ll do it a lot, partially because the gym with a pool is just far enough away to be obnoxious, but I am excited to dive back in! (sorry for the pun)
…Excited For: The snowy weekend ahead! Do I love running in the mountains? Duh, of course. But I can’t wait to frolic in the snow and sleep in and enjoy my morning coffee just a little bit extra!
Love,
JN
