this week #60

You guys, what in the world, I am feeling sick! Again! I spent the first 30 years of my life proudly never getting sick and now I get sick every other month. Is this what getting older is like? Not a fan. It might be allergies but I definitely have a minor cough and felt absolutely terrible riding on the Peloton earlier today.

Also, yesterday I got up from the couch in a funky way and got a charlie horse or something in my glute medius. My butt cramped! Fortunately, it went away and I felt fine this morning after using the heating pad. Fast forward to tonight, I had already decided to defer my run to tomorrow because I didn’t feel great and then, as I was getting up from the couch, my butt cramped AGAIN! I literally shouted “not again!” as it happened. I think the muscle is very tight from the 50k this weekend. Annoying.

Anyway, all that to say, I needed a vibe shift. Plus, my brain is tired from a weird week, so I plan to keep it real. I present to you, this week #60 with totally different prompts. Enjoy! Here’s what I’ve been…

…Watching: YouTube videos. My newest guilty pleasure. I think it’s actually becoming a problem because I downloaded the app on my phone and now it’s basically like having Instagram again. Less mindnumbing, but still a lot of screentime. I am enjoying Molly Hernandez’s videos because it makes me nostalgic for Austin and they’re generally good vibes and inspire me to be more creative.

…Stretching: My hips as much as possible! Lately I’ve been allowing myself to watch YouTube while I stretch (see above) to incentivize me to stretch for longer. So far I’d say it’s working! I’ve been enjoying holding a low lunge, a runner’s stretch, and then a lizard pose on each side for a few minutes.

…Cleaning: Basically nothing. Dang it, why did I pick this prompt?! I picked up the living room this weekend. It had gotten out of hand with the mess. I’ve been meaning to clean up our bedroom for weeks and have simply ignored that task on my list. I want to put junk away, vacuum, and maybe even Swiffer up here.

…Wondering: What to have for breakfast tomorrow. I think I wrote that one of my 2026 goals was to get my morning appetite back and boy, have I been successful! I’m not sure if I need to be eating a little more at night or if waking up earlier has reset my system, but I am usually pretty hungry when I wake up. I try not to eat eggs every day, so I’ve also been enjoying toast, waffles, bagels, oatmeal, Grapenuts, and oranges or apples. Not all at once, for the record. But that would be a fun morning!

…Eyeing: Tickets to go see Project Hail Mary! I am definitely going to go see it, but I’m trying to decide if we should splurge and get tickets to see it on the big big screen at Alamo Drafthouse. If you haven’t read the book, you absolutely should! It’s very fun and Ryan Gosling plays Dr. Grace in the movie.

…Avoiding: Doing my core and prehab. I have weekly goals of doing 5 minutes of core at least three times a week and doing four prehab sessions a week. Admittedly, my definition of what constitutes a prehab session can vary week to week, but I’ve been pretty good about getting it all done. Something is better than nothing! That said, this week I have been quite lazy about it. I just… don’t want to? Let me live! Who needs cores anyway?!

…Enjoying: Getting in bed early to read, watch YouTube, or simply PTFO. Last night I was asleep before Patrick even got out of the shower. Glorious.

I hope you enjoyed this slightly unhinged version of my weekly update! Here’s to hoping I feel better tomorrow and that my butt doesn’t cramp again.

if you read until the end, please enjoy this poorly edited spongebob meme

Love,

JN
