Hi, I am ready for spring. Life has been so busy lately. I really feel like I am burning the candle at both ends right now. I feel good about all I am doing and I am actually having a ton of fun… But I am also tired and would love a massage and a vacation with a pool! I’m sure you get it.
Fortunately, I think things will slow down around mid March and then I’ll be able to relax and refocus as much as possible. Hopefully the warm weather is here to stick around by then too! Anyway, here’s what I’ve been…
…Reading: Well, last time I wrote one of these I said I was in a reading slump and that is still very true! That said, I did finally finish The Phoenix King – it was long! I enjoyed it. I want to stop by the library later to get a new fiction book, but I want something wildly different and solidly not fantasy. Reading has felt like a chore lately, so I couldn’t bring myself to read two books at once. I still need to finish Choose Strong!
…Eating: A lot of food. Lately I’ve just felt like a bottomless pit (can you blame me with all this running?!). Last night I made Oklahoma style turkey burgers out on the grill (delicious but could use some practice), we’ve eaten cake multiple times this week for multiple birthdays, and it’s been just warm enough that I’ve made more protein smoothies again! I can’t wait to be outside grilling all. the. time.

…Working on: Making homemade hurdles with PVC pipe to do some hip mobility work with. AND writing postcards to lean dem voters in Wisconsin about their upcoming state supreme court election! It feels pretty good. Also 10 feet of PVC pipe is a lot more than I realized, though it DID fit in the car!

…Listening to: Dear Hank and John – a podcast by the Green brothers. Since I have been running so much I’ve been listening to a LOT of running podcasts. I wanted something different for my run on Sunday and I love the Green brothers, so I gave this podcast a try. It is random and quick and funny and just the right cadence for my run!
…Trying: To map out all of our spring adventures! Patrick has a ton of travel coming up and I’ve got some big long runs to tackle, so I want to make sure to make them as exciting as possible! I will say, we get so excited about spring and summer every year and then end up overbooking ourselves a bit. Worth it!
…Thinking About: How doomerism is not a strategy.

…Excited For: Some work travel to CO this week. Work events are always so exhausting, but I have a better handle on my responsibilities and role this year so I am looking forward to being more in control of my time and energy! I am really going to make an effort to run in the morning, so wish me luck!
What are you looking forward to this week?
Love,
JN
