MOVE·MENT: the progressive development of a poem or story.

this week #70

Hi! My proud weekly posting has fallen to the wayside over the last few months, but I am back and better than ever. Between running and Italian class and work and PATC volunteering I have been busy busy busy. And my big race is in 10 days! Crazy how time flies when you’re having fun.

I’ve been enjoying fall, she says on a 90 degree day in October… The weather is mostly quite nice and the leaves are finally turning to beautiful shades of red and yellow and orange. It gets dark at 6:30 these days, but I don’t mind it too much.

Throughout this lovely October, here’s what I’ve been…

…Reading: Country People by Daniel Mason and The Red Planet: A Natural History of Mars by Simon Morden. Daniel Mason is the author of North Woods, so when I saw he had a new book out I had to pick it up. My book about Mars is so fascinating. I realized I haven’t read much about the planet itself, just space exploration generally, so I am learning a ton.

Since the last time I shared what I was reading, I’ve also finished Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke, The Knave and the Moon by Rachel Fillig, Art Fraud by Susie Hodge, The Love Haters by Katherine Center (via audiobook), and The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware.

…Eating: Pumpkin muffins! Actually, we’ve been eating pumpkin in a lot of stuff. Pumpkin turkey chili, pumpkin waffles, pumpkin snickerdoodles, etc. How can you not at a time like this?! This morning I enjoyed my pumpkin muffin on the couch with coffee in my pumpkin mug.

…Wearing: I really try not to be someone who encourages you to buy things, but I’ve been using Stitch Fix over the last few months to try to slowly and thoughtfully upgrade elements of my wardrobe and I love it. Specifically, I asked for casual pants that weren’t jeans or something weirdly trendy and got these in my Stitch Fix box. I absolutely love them! Utility pants are awesome. I originally got them in navy blue and loved them, so when they showed up in my next order in a green color I got them too!

said pants in action while making illegal s’mores on our front step!

…Listening to: Stop the Wedding! by Ashe. It’s just so good.

…Drinking: Apple Olipops. I am obsessed with these. They’re like sparkling apple cider but better! I’ve been enjoying them with a packed lunch at work or when we’re having sandwiches for dinner. They feel seasonally appropriate too, which is a fun bonus.

…Thinking About: This year’s Christmas Coffee Advent Calendar! I definitely want to do it again. I need to brainstorm some new activities and switch up some of the days. I was rereading my recaps from last December and loved how joyful the whole experience was. 🙂

…Excited For: Rim to River! 100 miles, here we come! As previously mentioned, I am trying to be as chill and nonchalant about this race as possible. I am looking forward to a long day running in a beautiful forest!

I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far and maybe finding something pumpkin-y to enjoy soon.

Love,

JN
